As part of Government inspection cycle IETA was inspected by Ofsted from 29th September through 2nd October. A summary of the grades are shown below and a copy of the full report can be downloaded from the Ofsted website www.ofsted.gov.uk

• Overall effectiveness grade 3 satisfactory

• Outcome for learners grade 3 satisfactory

• Quality of provision grade 3 satisfactory

• Leadership and management grade 3 satisfactory

Since our last inspection in May 2005 the previous inspection authority the Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI) have merged with Ofsted. This was one of the first inspections following the new Common Inspection Framework (CIF) that came in scope on 1st September. There is little doubt that the ‘bar' for minimum standards has increased substantially. In essence, what was once deemed as ‘Good' four years ago is now ‘Satisfactory'. This highlights the improvement needed just to stand still. I would like to thank all IETA staff for their hard work and effort in obtaining the above grades and all employers, especially those involved with the inspection.
