Working at Heights Regulations

The TICA March newsletter detailed the new WAH Regulations & help that is available to you.
Following a period of uncertainty, the Work at Heights Regulations 2005 (WAH) came into force on the 6th April 2005 & apply to all work at height – including the “two metre rule” which was a special provision for the construction industry.
The WAH Regulations require that;
All work at height be properly planned
All persons carrying out work at height be competent
Risk assessment of the proposed task be carried out
All equipment be regularly inspected & maintained

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) advises that those who are following good practice regarding working at heights will already be complying with the new regulations. However, it advises employers to ensure that they select equipment which will help prevent a fall.
