The Adult Apprenticeship is primarily for employees who have worked in the construction industry for a minimum of 3 years, gained practical experience, be over the age of 23years and wishes to become a skilled trade's person. See section 18.3 of the National Agreement.
The adult apprenticeship in Thermal Insulation is a two year course; however it can exceed two years should the qualification not be achieved to the satisfaction of the employer or the TICA. The course involves the learner working on site for the majority of the time. The learner will attend TICA Training College in two week blocks, approx four times a year.
During the course the learner will complete the following:
- NVQ Level 2 in Thermal Insulation
- Certificate in Thermal Insulation Level 2
- Functional Skill in English
- Functional Skill in Maths
- Functional Skill in IT (optional)
- Employers Rights and Responsibilites
Normally the apprentice will complete the Framework with the first 18 months of the course. He/She will then spend the remainder of the time working on site gaining experience.
Upon completion of the above criteria the apprentice will be issued with their Apprentice Agreement which shows they are a qualified Thermal Insulation Engineer.
