Apprenticeship Recruitment 2010

 We have now finished recruiting for the 2009 intake of Thermal Insulation Apprentices. We will be recruiting again in June 2010.

 The Thermal Insulation Industry

Thermal Insulation Contractors work on commercial sites such as offices, factories, hospitals, schools, supermarkets and industrial sites such as Oil Refineries, Power Stations, Chemical Plants and ships.

The Thermal Insulator specialises in insulating hot pipes, vessels and boilers to keep heat in, or in the case of refrigeration and air conditioning installations, to keep heat out.

How old do I have to be to apply?

You can apply for the Thermal Insulation Apprenticeship from the age of 16.

Training

The Thermal Insulation Apprenticeship takes 3 years to complete. You will mainly be working construction sites with block release weeks at our training centre in Darlington.

 What qualifications will I be working towards?

Training towards the Foundation Modern Apprenticeship incorporates the following:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Thermal Insulation
  • Technical Certificate
  • Functional Skills inMaths & English
  • Employer Rights and Responsibilities

What Qualifications do I need?

Preferably four GCSE's including Maths and English (although applicants without these qualifications will be considered)

Personal Qualities

You should be hard working, reliable and able to get up early for work. You should be good with your hands, willing to travel and stay in lodgings (this is important due to the off the job element being in Darlington) and be willing to do all of the work the off the job element of the apprenticeship entails. Applicant should not be afraid of heights.
