As a Full Member of the TICA you automatically qualify for The National Agreement for Thermal Insulation Contracting (Pink Book) which covers all terms and conditions and working rules for the industry. A copy of the Pink Book can be located in your Membership area.
The National Joint Council for the Thermal Insulation Contracting Industry (NJCTICI) was founded in 1959, the Association being the sole employer signatory body along with the GMB and the T & GW Unions.
In 1981 the Association also became one of three employer bodies signatory to the National Agreement for the Engineering Construction Industry (NAECI), which covers the terms and agreements of engineering construction projects. A significant proportion of the Association's work is involved in providing advice and support to member companies on Industrial Relations, Employment and Training matters. A further main activity of the Association through its influential Technical Committee, is its representation to the Health and Safety Executive and the British Standards Institute.
It has been estimated that 70% of all UK construction is carried out by specialist sub-contractors, therefore their position in the UK construction industry is vital and it follows that their continuing well being is equally important. Despite the key role they play, the contractual nature of the Construction Industry generally means that the specialist sub-contractor individually has little influence on the major factors affecting his prosperity.
The Association is committed to using the combined strength of its members to do all it can to protect, improve and promote their interests.
There are different categories of Membership, therefore If you feel that your organisation would benefit from the TICA then please view our Membership Information area.
Insulation and Environmental Training Agency
IETA (Insulation and Environmental Training Agency) is a division of the Thermal Insulation Contractors Association, responsible for managing the industry's training programmes for Thermal Insulation Apprentices.
In August 1990 TICA withdrew from scope of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and set up its own Managing Agent, the Insulation and Environmental Training Agency to oversee the apprenticeship training scheme for the industry. IETA is an accredited centre with the City & Guilds for the delivery of NVQ's in Thermal Insulation and Key Skills. Field based Training Officers give advice and assistance on all training and grant matters, as well as monitoring the progress of apprentices.
