This training can be delivered ‘in house’ at your company premises, as long as a suitable training classroom is available and practical training space and equipment are provided.

This course is for candidates intending to work as asbestos removal operatives who have had no previous experience of asbestos removal.

The course involves a combination of quality theory and practical training, providing candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills required for undertaking asbestos removal.

THEORY TRAINING COVERS:


• Module 1 - Asbestos Types, Uses & Risks of ACM's
• Module 2 - Health Hazards of Asbestos
• Module 3 - Legislation
• Module 4 &17 - Site Set up & Dismantling + Management Systems & Monitoring (Enclosures/Air Extraction)
• Module 5 - Controlled Stripping Techniques
• Module 6 & 7- PPE & RPE
• Module 8 - Decontamination & Transit Procedures
• Module 9 - Site Clearance and Air Testing
• Module 10- Plant & Equipment Types & Uses
• Module 11 - Waste management, Legislation & Disposal
• Module 12 - Emergency Procedures
• Module 13 - Non asbestos hazards
• Module 14 - Fault finding
• Module 15 &18 - Roles & Responsibilities, RA's & POW
• Module 16 Site Inspection and Record Keeping

PRACTICAL TRAINING COVERS:


• Module 10 - Plant & Equipment (use & maintenance demonstration)
• Module 14 - Fault Finding (During Practical Session)
• Module 24 - Decontamination & Transit Procedures in full including showering
• Module 25 - Use & Maintenance of RPE
• Module 26 - Enclosures & airlock construction, NPU attachment, Smoke testing & Waste removal
• Module 27 - Use of Controlled Stripping Techniques (injection, shadow vacuuming, etc.)

 

Delegate Requirements
Trunks/shorts & towel & spare pair of socks (for decontamination procedure)

Experience Required: None

On successful completion of a short multiple-choice exam, candidates receive an ACAD training record card and certificate, valid for one year.
